“Auckland Botanic Gardens – one of the most beautiful gardens in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the most visited public spaces in Aotearoa. And they have a biannual sculpture show and I’m in it! Boom! And the sculpture show lasts for three whole months, super cool! And, wait for it, I’m making a bird-lady riding a dairy cow. ‘What?’ Yes yes I know, I know, let me explain:

“Imagine a pandemic has wiped out the human race, then fast forward 1000 years and ask the question? What sentient beings will inhabit the 64 hectares we currently call the botanic Gardens? Which species will have thrived and which species will have died out? And just who will ride the holy cow?

“Obviously the dairy-industry politics is a hot topic and a divisive one. My own opinion is that it needs to be done more ethically and sustainably. It is one of the backbones of our economy and cows sure are wondrous creatures. So, yeah, lastly I’m very curious as to how Moo’s making will evolve. Oh I have a vague plan, definitely the skill set, and I’ll show up to work each day. What a wonderful maker’s adventure.

“I’ve got your back, Moo.”
